Un panzer grasiento - A greasy panzer

Este verano he tenido la oportunidad de visitar el museo de blindados de Bovington. Es un museo fantástico donde un modelista puede encontrar inspiración y referencias de valor incalculable para nuevos proyectos.

Los foros y blogs de internet están llenos de walkarounds que muestran todos los vehículos del museo de Bovington con gran detalle, por eso, creo que no tiene mucho interés repetir esos walkarounds en este blog.

This summer I have had the opportunity to visit The Tank Museum at Bovington. It is a fantastic museum where, as a modeller, you can find inspiration and invaluable references for new projects.

The internet blogs and forums are full of walkarounds that show all the vehicles in Bovington with great detail, so, I don't think that be of interest to repeat such walkarounds here.


Yo estoy especialmente interesado en la forma en que un carro de combate en uso se ensucia. En Bovington he podido encontrar varios ejemplos de tanques sucios que han llamado mi atención. Este tipo de imágenes no es tan frecuente en internet y es por eso que quiero compartirlas con todos vosotros.

Este primer post está dedicado a la grasa que se acumula en el tren de rodaje de un panzer III que se ha usado para dar unas vueltas al Kuwait Arena (el pequeño campo de maniobras a la entrada del museo).

Espero que sea de interés. Como siempre, cualquier comentario o sugerencia será bien recibido.

I am especially interested in the way a tank in use gets dirty. In Bovington, I could find several examples of dirty tanks that caught my attention. This kind of images is not so frequent and I would like to share it with you.

This first post is devoted to the grease accumulated in the running gear of a Panzer III, after what this tank was used in the Kuwait arena (the small field of maneuvers sited in front of the museum).

Hace algunos meses, decidí despintar una vieja maqueta que monté y pinté en 2006 y que no quedó muy bien ver esta entrada. Pues bien, ya he terminado las etapas preliminares de pintura tanto de la base como de la maqueta y está lista para el ensuciado. El ensuciado es la fase que mas me gusta, así que queda lo más divertido.

Así es cómo va por ahora y cómo quedó en 2006.

Me gustaría que me dierais vuestra opinión.

Hoy os traigo algunas fotos del estado actual del KV-II invernal. Tiene terminadas las fases iniciales de pintura y está listo para el ensuciado. Quizá debería decir que está listo para la diversión ya que la fase de ensuciado es sin duda la que más me gusta.

Como sabéis, me gustan mucho los carros con mucho polvo. Siempre ando buscando fotografías de tanques llenos de polvo que puedan servirme de inspiración para futuras maquetas. Hace unas semanas encontré esta foto y me dije que tenía que hacer una maqueta inspirada en ella.

As you already know, I like the tanks with lot of dust. I'm always looking for photos of tanks full of dust that could inspire my next models. A few weeks ago, I found this picture and I told myself: I have to make a model inspired on it.

Afortunadamente tenía en mi armario la maqueta de Dragón del Panzer III H early (ref. 6641) y unas cadenas de Friulmodel. No es exactamente la misma variante de la fotografía, pero la maqueta de Dragón puede ambientarse en Rusia o en los Balcanes a primeros de verano de 1941, por lo que este tipo de ensuciado le va como anillo al dedo.

Tengo ganas de pintar un carro tan típico de la segunda guerra mundial usando mi método de pintura de carros que es un poco distinto de los métodos a los que estamos acostumbrados. Veremos que sale.

Fortunately I had in my cupboard the Dragon kit of the Panzer III H early (ref. 6641) and the Friulmodel tracks. It isn't exactly the same variant we can see in the photo, but the Dragon kit can be set in Russia or in the Balkans in the summer of 1941, so this kind of weathering is perfect for it.

I want to paint a so typical WWII tank by using my painting style which is a little bit different of what we are used to. We'll see the result.

Por qué me gusta el MTB - Why I love MTB

Perdonad el off-topic. Este post no tiene nada que ver con el modelismo, pero también quería compartirlo con vosotros.

Después del modelismo, mi otra gran pasión es el MTB (MounTain Bike). Me encanta ir con mi bici a la montaña a perderme por caminos y senderos, respirando aire puro y desconectando de la rutina diaria.

Hace unos días uno de mis conocidos me preguntó: ¿qué placer encuentras en someter a tu cuerpo a un cansancio intenso, a pasar frío en invierno y calor en verano, con el peligro de hacerse daño en una caída? No supe muy bien cómo explicárselo, creo que lo mejor es verlo. El siguiente vídeo sólo dura un minuto, pero creo que es más que suficiente para hacerse una idea. Es una subida por uno de los caminos más clásicos de Granada.

Son instantes como este los que te hacen olvidar todo lo demás. Esta es la razón por la que me encanta el MTB.

Sorry for the off-topic. This post has nothing to do with afv modeling, but I wanted to share it with you too.

After modeling, my other great passion is MTB (mountain bike). I love going with my mountain bike to lose myself in paths and trails, breathing fresh air and disconnecting from the daily grind.

A few days ago one of my acquaintances asked me what pleasure I find in subjecting my body to intense fatigue, to get cold in winter and hot in summer, with the danger of being hurt in a fall? I was not sure how to explain it, I think it's best to see it. The following video only lasts a minute, but I think it is more than enough to get an idea. It is a climb of one of the most classic trail of Granada.

These are moments like this that make you forget everything else. This is why I love MTB.

Otro abrams - Another abrams

Hola amigos. Este es la última maqueta que he montado. Otro abrams también en maniobras. Esta vez es un M1A1. ¿Alguien adivina cómo irá pintado?

La maqueta es de dragón, la referencia 3516, M1A1 with mine plough. Es antigua pero buena. El montaje es de caja con algunas piezas tomadas de la caja de sobras. Todo el sistema MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System), se ha realizado a scratch con lámina de plástico y alambre.

Si te interesa saber cómo se ha realizado el montaje, permanece atento al blog, ya que en breve publicaré un artículo en pdf donde explico lo explico.

Hello friends. This is the last model I've assembled. Other abrams also in maneuvers. This time is an M1A1. Any guesses how to go painted?

The kit is from dragon, reference 3516, M1A1 with mine plough. It is old but good. The assembling is out of the box with some pieces taken from the box of leftovers. All components of the MILES system (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) has been carried out from scratch with plastic sheet and wire.

Abrams invernal - Winter abrams

Hola de nuevo amigos. Aquí os dejo algunas fotos de la última maqueta que he perpetrado en 2014. Esta vez la víctima es un M1 Abrams ambientado en las maniobras REFORGER de 1985.

La figura no la he pintado yo. La pintó mi amigo Joaquín en 2006. Todos estos años la he tenido guardada a la espera de pintar una maqueta que estuviese a la altura de su magnífico trabajo.


Hello again friends. Here you have some photos of the last model that I painted in 2014. This time is an M1 Abrams set in the 1985 REFORGER maneuvers.

I have not painted the figure. My friend Joaquín painted it in 2006. All these years I kept waiting to paint a model that would live up to his magnificent work.

Desafortunadamente, hoy en día es muy difícil, si no imposible, conseguir una maqueta de un M1 inicial. Por eso he tenido que transformar a scratch un M1A1 en un M1 inicial. Ojalá Tamiya reeditara su M1.


Unfortunately, today it is very difficult, if not impossible, to get a model of an initial M1. So I had to transform by scratch one M1A1 into an initial M1. Hopefully Tamiya reissued his M1.
